NAVIGATION
DESCRIPTION
This program provides the skills and concepts required to safely and comfortably navigate underwater during a dive. You will learn how to use a compass and natural navigation techniques, estimate distance, basic navigation patterns and how to leave and return to a designated point. You will earn the SSI Navigation Specialty certification after completing this program.
NAVIGATION
Have you ever asked yourself, “How does my dive leader manage to find their way back to the exit point or to the boat without getting lost?”
The answer is many years of navigation practice and the SSI NAVIGATION course is what you need to learn this skill for yourself.
The NAVIGATION course will teach you to navigate with a compass and how to apply natural navigation skills and pilotage underwater.
You will also be taught how to estimate distances, navigate different search patterns if you are trying to find something underwater, find your way to different points and be able to get back to the exit point or shot line at any time.
These skills are important for UK diving where visibility issues make it harder to see your destination until you are fairly close. Wrecks are only good to dive on them if you can find them!
